Features
Features sets the tone—and the cover—for each month's issue. Features writers should excel in writing and reporting, with an eye for how to turn buzzwords on campus into an investigative or novel longform article. They should know where to find stories, sources, and angles and be able to work diligently with deadlines several weeks away (i.e. don't leave things until the last minute). They know how to source pieces, report, and are constantly on the lookout for new pitches and DP pieces that could be turned into narrative articles. Features writers need to be good with long–term deadlines, responsive to frequent editor check–ins, and able to write and structure 2000+ word pieces on tight deadlines.
Expectations: Produce a longform feature story based on the features calendar (usually maths out to 1-2 per semester), check in weekly with Features Editors, attend all staff meetings, trainings, social events, and edits with the Features Editors, Managing Editor(s), and EIC.
